Have you gained admission but need help paying your school fees? GETFund scholarships are worth checking. Before you apply, make sure you are reading the notice for the right academic year and type of study.

GETFund means Ghana Education Trust Fund. Its scholarship opportunities include local and foreign study, with different conditions for each application call.

    Are applications open now?

As of 1 October 2026, we have not confirmed a currently open application window. Some official guidance still shows older dates. An accessible portal does not automatically mean applications are open.

Check the GETFund website and official scholarship portal for a dated announcement covering your programme. Do not use a deadline from an old social media flyer.

    Who can apply?

GETFund’s published guidance requires Ghanaian applicants. The eligible qualification, institution, academic results and study location depend on the specific call. Do not assume a foreign postgraduate announcement also covers undergraduate study in Ghana.

    Get your documents ready

    Start a folder with:

    • Your admission letter.
    • Academic certificates and transcripts.
    • Your Ghana Card or other identification required by the call.
    • Your institution’s fee schedule.
    • Evidence of financial need, if requested.

Some categories may require a CV, references, passport, research proposal or other supporting documents. Use the current call’s checklist rather than sending the same documents for every scholarship. See the official application guidance.

    How to apply

    1. Read the current announcement and confirm that you qualify.
    2. Open the scholarship portal through GETFund’s official website.
    3. Create and verify your account if required.
    4. Complete the form and upload clear, readable documents.
    5. Check your details carefully, submit before the deadline and keep your confirmation.
    6. Monitor your email, SMS and portal for further instructions.

    What does it pay for?

GETFund’s published guidance describes local scholarship support as tuition-only. Foreign awards may have broader coverage, but do not assume accommodation, flights and living costs are all included. Your award letter should state exactly what is covered. Read GETFund’s scholarship guidance.

Plan how you will cover expenses outside the award. Submitting an application is not a guarantee of funding.

    Avoid preventable mistakes

Use matching names across your documents, check that every uploaded page is readable and avoid duplicate applications. GETFund’s guidance warns that false information, missing documents and multiple applications can disqualify applicants.

Do not pay someone who promises a guaranteed award. Keep your password and verification codes private, and do not post your Ghana Card, admission letter or application number in this forum.

Start by checking the GETFund Scholarship Application Portal. If your application window is not open, use the time to prepare your documents.
