Meta Muse Explained: How to Use It, Cost, Safety and Making Money

Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI agent that can help you get things done online. Think of it as a digital helper you give a job to, then check its work.

Meta announced Muse on 8 September 2026. It runs on its own computer in the cloud and is powered by Muse Spark. Muse is the service you use; Muse Spark is the AI model behind it.

It is currently rolled out in the USA, but will roll out to all countries this September, 2026.

What Is a Personal AI Agent?

Imagine asking a helper to organise your birthday party. You give them the date, budget and number of guests. They work out the smaller jobs and bring you options to approve.

A personal AI agent works in a similar way online. Instead of only giving you advice, it can use websites and connected apps to carry out a task. You still decide what it is allowed to do.

For example, “How do I plan my week?” asks for advice. “Look at my calendar, find two free evenings and suggest a study timetable” gives the agent a job. Meta’s Muse guide explains this difference.

What Can Meta Muse Do?

According to Meta, Muse can:

  • Research information and compare products online.
  • Create documents and images.
  • Set reminders, track goals and monitor things you care about.
  • Work with connected apps such as email and calendars.
  • Browse websites, fill forms and help with bookings or purchases.
  • Continue a task in the background after you close the app.

For example, you could ask it to compare three laptops within your budget and return a shortlist.

That is a sensible first task before giving it permission to spend money. Features depend on available connections, permissions and usage limits; every website will not necessarily work.

Meta Muse vs Grok Bot: What Is the Difference?

Grok Bot, from the company behind Grok, also does work through apps and websites. Here we mean the dedicated agent product, not simply asking the Grok chatbot a question.

Feature Meta Muse Grok Bot
Main emphasis Personal tasks and everyday goals AI teammates with ongoing jobs
Background work Continues after you close the app Continues on its cloud computer
How you use it Muse app, web and WhatsApp Desktop and mobile apps
Organisation A personal agent with goals and side chats Named Bots that can coordinate with other Bots

Muse is aimed at helping organise your life, while Grok Bot puts more emphasis on assigning work to a team of agents.

Their capabilities overlap. This is a comparison of documented features, not a hands-on performance test. Check Grok Bot’s FAQ and current plan eligibility before subscribing.

How Do I Download Meta Muse?

Start at Meta’s official Muse page and follow its Get started link to muse.ai. Meta has announced iPhone and Android apps as part of the rollout.

You can also use the web version without installing a mobile app. WhatsApp is another way to message your Muse when the service is available to your account. AI glasses support was announced as coming soon.

How Do I Get Started and Use It?

  1. Check eligibility. Use the official website or app.
  2. Sign in with your Meta account. Read the onboarding, privacy and subscription screens before continuing.
  3. Begin with one small job. Try researching something that does not need access to private accounts.
  4. Connect only what the task needs. Review the permissions carefully. Start with read-only access where offered.
  5. Give clear instructions. Include your goal, deadline, budget and what needs your approval.
  6. Review the result. Check facts, recipients and prices before approving anything that sends information or spends money.

Try this first prompt:

I want to learn Excel for office work. Make a four-week beginner plan using free resources. I can study for 30 minutes each evening. Include links and a small practice task for each week. Do not buy or subscribe to anything.

Meta’s design guide says tapping your Muse avatar opens its activity log and approved permissions. The Goals tab shows ongoing goals and plans. Use these to see what it is doing rather than assuming a task is finished.

How Much Does Meta Muse Cost?

Meta’s subscription help page lists these plans:

Plan Monthly price Usage
Free US$0 Limited usage; wait for a refresh or upgrade when you reach the limit
Power US$20 500 million Muse tokens per week
Maximum US$100 3 billion Muse tokens per week

“Muse tokens” measure usage; they are not money or cryptocurrency. These allowances do not promise a fixed number of completed jobs. Paid subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled. Eligibility and benefits can vary by account and region, so check the price and terms shown before paying.

A subscription is also separate from anything you ask Muse to buy. Your shopping, bookings, internet access and any separately charged services still cost money.

Will Meta Muse Make You Money?

It will not automatically pay you for using it. Think of it as a tool that could help you deliver useful work or save time. Customers still need a reason to pay you, and you remain responsible for the quality.

Here are practical ideas to test once you have access. These are suggested uses, not verified earnings claims:

  • Content services: prepare caption ideas, product descriptions and content calendars for a small business. Edit the work to match the client’s voice.
  • Research services: organise supplier comparisons or public market information into a clear report. Verify every important claim and source.
  • Business administration: prepare customer reply drafts and organise follow-up tasks, with the business owner’s permission.
  • Simple digital products: develop useful checklists, study planners or templates. Test them and check rights before selling.
  • Support your existing shop: improve product information and compare supplier offers. Better service may help sales, but it does not guarantee them.

A good first experiment is one small project for one client. Agree on the deliverable, review the output yourself, and record how much time and money you actually save.

Deduct subscriptions and other expenses before calling anything profit.

For example:

Using these product details, draft five Instagram captions for my clothing shop in Accra. Use simple English. Do not invent discounts, prices or delivery promises. Show me the drafts before anything is published.

How Secure Is Meta Muse?

Meta describes several protections in its security explanation:

  • A separate cloud computer for each user.
  • A Sentinel system that checks outgoing actions and requests permission when required.
  • Protected credential storage so the main agent does not see your real passwords.
  • Controls over connected services and an activity record you can inspect.

There are limits. Muse can make mistakes and remains vulnerable to attacks such as malicious instructions hidden in websites or files.

Current protections do not prevent Meta from accessing data when needed to operate, secure or support the service.

Muse Confidential VM is planned for later in 2026.

Meta says conversations and VM data are not shared with its ad systems, but websites Muse visits can still influence advertising. Sanitised interaction data may be used for model training; you can opt out in settings.

Start with limited access, use the secure sign-in controls instead of pasting passwords into chat, and keep approval requirements for messages and purchases. Avoid uploading confidential client information without permission.

What Should You Try First?

Choose one job you already understand, such as comparing products or creating a weekly plan. Check the result and decide whether the time saved is worth using it again.

Build trust gradually before handing over more responsibility.
