Ghana and Morocco recently (2025) signed a bilateral visa-waiver agreement that makes travelling between the two countries easier.
This means that holders of ordinary Ghanaian passports no longer need a traditional visa to visit Morocco for tourism or short business trips. You do not have to visit the Moroccan Embassy in Accra, Ghana to apply.
Visa-free does not mean you can just buy a ticket and travel like how you would if travelling for tourism in South Africa. Ghanaian passport holders must obtain a free Electronic Travel Authorization (online) to Morocco, known as an AEVM, before departure.
You can apply through the official Accès Maroc platform. Approval or rejection is typically issued within 24 hours (excluding working days). It is advisable to apply at least 2 weeks before your planned date of departure.
How Many Days Can I Stay in Morocco?
Ghanaian citizens can stay in Morocco for up to 90 days under the visa-waiver arrangement.
If you intend to work, study, live in Morocco or remain for more than 90 days, you will need to apply for the appropriate visa, not the tourist ETA.
When Did Visa-Free Travel Between Ghana and Morocco Begin?
The bilateral visa-waiver arrangement took effect in June 2025.
What Is the Morocco AEVM?
The AEVM is an Electronic Travel Authorisation, not the typical visa. It is free to apply online, and you may apply multiple times if your application is rejected.
You apply online, receive the authorisation electronically and present it when checking in for your flight or when requested by Moroccan immigration.
Apply only through the official website: https://acces-maroc.ma/. Make sure you print it and carry it along at the respective airports. You will be asked to present it. You should also download the digital copy as backup on your phone.
What Are the Entry Requirements for Morocco as a Ghanaian?
Although Morocco is visa-free for Ghanaians, you should travel with the following:
- A valid ordinary Ghanaian passport, preferably with at least six months remaining from your arrival date
- An approved AEVM

Final Advice
Morocco is now considerably easier for Ghanaians to visit, but remember that the trip is visa-free, not authorisation-free.
Apply for your AEVM before departure, travel with your supporting documents and make sure your passport is valid. Once everything is in place, you can enjoy Morocco’s historic cities, mountains, food and culture without going through the traditional embassy visa process.
