Ghana and Antigua and Barbuda have a visa waiver arrangement that allows eligible Ghanaian passport holders to visit without obtaining an entry visa.
What this means is that you don’t need to apply for a visa for a visit covered by the agreement if you hold an ordinary Ghanaian passport. Service and diplomatic passports are also covered.
How Many Days Can I Stay in Antigua and Barbuda?
You can stay for up to 90 days under the arrangement announced by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Check the period granted when you arrive. If you want to stay longer, work, study or live there, obtain the appropriate permission. Do not assume that the general visitor limits for other nationalities apply to your trip.
When Will the Visa Free Agreement Between Ghana and Antigua and Barbuda Be Effective?
The Ministry’s announcement dated 8 September 2026 confirms that the agreement had entered into force following ratification. See the announcement above for the passport categories and 90-day limit.
What Are the Entry Requirements to Enter Antigua and Barbuda as a Ghanaian?
The fact that you don’t need a visa doesn’t mean your ticket is all you need. Prepare the following:
- A valid Ghanaian passport. The Immigration Department says it must remain valid beyond the date of your return ticket. Check any longer validity required by your airline or transit country.
- A confirmed return or onward ticket.
- Confirmation of accommodation, such as a hotel booking or your host’s details.
- Enough money to support your visit.
- A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate when arriving from Ghana, for travellers aged one year and above.
- Any visa or permission needed for your connecting flights.
Read the official entry requirements and confirm them before travelling. Admission remains subject to immigration checks.
Check the travel health requirements. If receiving your first yellow fever vaccination, allow at least 10 days before your trip.
